While driving around the island of Newfoundland, we made a quick stop over to Come By Chance, where we made our way to "the Gut". A local day park/camping park surrounded by waters from the ocean, the Blue Flag Iris had popped up all over the area. Such a truly beautiful example of the Flora found in Newfoundland.

I spend more time looking down when hiking than anywhere else. This is the sort of treasure you find on the forest floor

The Blue flag is probably one of the most widespread native iris from Manitoba to the East Coast. They grow in moist ground along shorelines, rivers and ponds. A very striking flower also grown in gardens.
