There is something magical about photographing an exceptional bird of prey, especially one looking towards you.

I had wanted to photograph this bird for quite some time but they are not found in Nova Scotia, Canada, which is where I live. I took a trip to Lower Mainland, British Columbia and did not have any luck for quite some time. I had less than one hour before wrapping my trip and this bird was nowhere to be found. However thanks to Hector Traumas, I was able to spot this bird at the last moment.

While walking along one of Delta's many dikes I noticed the familiar flight pattern of a Barn Owl. I watched this bird hunt as the sun began to drop. As the owl danced over the salt marsh, it turned to face me for a brief moment. The colour of the sky made this moment so much more memorable, no doubt one of my favourite sunset experiences.
